In this podcast we talk to A.A. Chaudhuri and Caitlin Davies, writers whose work focusses on crime and detection. They will both be coming to Medway River Lit on Saturday 16 November, in what we're informally calling our 'Crime Saturday'!

AA Chaudhuri (Alex) is a former City lawyer. Her first highly acclaimed psychological thriller with Hera Books, 'She’s Mine', was named the LJ Ross Book Club pick of the month. Her follow up titles 'The Loyal Friend' and 'The Final Party' have also received widespread praise.

Alex's latest novel 'Under Her Roof' is a twisty-turny psychological thriller about a man who moves into what he thinks will be the ideal houseshare... spoiler, it's not!

We are also joined on the podcast by Caitlin Davies. Caitlin is is a novelist, non-fiction writer, teacher and award-winning journalist. She is the author of six novels, including the historical crime novel 'The Ghost of Lily Painter', and seven non-fiction books, including 'Bad Girls: The Rebels and Renegades of Holloway Prison', nominated for the Orwell Prize for Political Writing (2019). Caitlin will be joining us at River Lit to talk about her fascinating history of female detectives, 'Private Inquiries'.

We are delighted that Caitlin will also be leading a Masterclass in using research in your novel, and we'll open booking for that nearer to the festival.

Both writers spoke to Anne-Marie about their writing journeys.

We also spoke to Robyn Goldsmith, Culture Development Manager for Medway Council about Medway River Lit's place among the cultural activities in Medway. And introduced our regular features - our 'Recycled Writing Tip' - this episode, it's from Neil Gaiman, and our 'Moment of Greenery' - small actions everyone can take to help the planet.

Hope you enjoy the podcast! We've got lots more interesting writers lined up for the coming editions!
