Sam Rapp the Dyslexic Poet
POETRY AND FAMILY WRITING WORKSHOP: 12-1PM.

Sam Rapp the Dyslexic Poet will lead one of her popular Fun with Words Writing workshops and a poetry performance suitable for families with children aged 7 and up.

Family drawing workshop
WORKSHOP: 12.30-2pm.

Join local artist Karen Scudder in a fun family drawing workshop using 'The Character Machine' which will help you to come up with ideas for drawing characters. Maybe you've got an idea for a children's book, or you just fancy doing a bit of drawing for relaxation. This is sure to be a fun workshop.

Karen Scudder is a local artist and art teacher who believes that art can be used to improve wellbeing.
This workshop is suitable for all ages. Materials will be provided.

Martin Impey
BOOK TALK: 2-3pm.

Martin Impey has been a freelance illustrator since 1991 and is well known for his published children’s books that include the multi award-winning WW1 'Where the Poppies Now Grow' Series with prize-winning author Hilary Robinson.
Martin’s accolades include The Historical Association Young Quills Award in 2016, as well as being shortlisted twice for the Kate Greenway Medal. He was also recently asked to give the annual Wilfred Owen Birthday Lecture by the Wilfred Owen Association.

Martin will be talking about his illustrations for 'Where the Poppies Now Grow' (aimed at 7-9 year olds) and showing some of his original artwork.

Patience Agbabi
AUTHOR TALK: 3-4pm.

We are delighted to welcome Patience Agbabi to Medway River Lit. Patience Agbabi is a poet, novelist, performer and mentor who has spent over 20 years celebrating the written and spoken word. She will be joining us today at Medway's new literary festival, to tell us about 'The Leap Cycle' her series of novels for children aged 8-12.

Patience will be reading from the books, and talking to Festival Co-Director Sam Hall about writing them.

Interpreting Poetry: Talk and Films

"Illustrating Dulce et Decorum Est - Finding Wilfred Owen"; We welcome Martin Impey back to the stage to talk about illustrating the famous poem. The talk will shed light on the creative processes behind Martin’s 2018 illustrative book of the same name, whilst showing how the project brought him closer to Wilfred Owen - the man, the poet and the soldier.
Followed by Medway River Lit Film Night!
We will screen a selection of poetry films made by local artist Nadia Perrotta, 'Fear Mermaids', and poet and filmmaker Mark Hewitt, 'Poetry in Black and White'.
